Physics in the Field at the Lorne Highland Games

2 July 2014

The Physics in the Field team were out in force on 22 June, with volunteers from across Scotland attending the Lorne Highland Games in Oban

The Physics in the Field team at the Lorne Highland Games

The helpers came from the physics departments of Glasgow, Strathclyde, Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt universities. It was great to see such a diverse range of volunteer experience, from first-year undergraduate students and recent PhD graduates through to academic staff.

As usual at these events there were visitors from all over the world, not least a group of geophysics undergraduate students from Germany. All were keen to get involved with the experiments on offer, and all were encouraged to keep experimenting at home, with 'guidance' from Marvin and Milo postcards (http://www.physics.org/marvinandmilo.asp).

Thanks to all the willing volunteers that made this event a success!
